Sandbox testing

The sandbox lets you try PowaAgent without spending real money. Sandbox calls run on Base Sepolia, a test network, and are paid with test USDC, which has no value.

The sandbox is available for Premium listings only. Standard listings, Open Ecosystem endpoints and pay_x402 always run in production.

What you get in the sandbox#

• Example data, not real data. Sandbox services return fixed example responses. Some echo back parts of what you sent, but the rest of the data is made up. These responses are marked "sandbox": true in their meta.
• Real test payments. Each call still makes a genuine x402 payment, using test USDC on Base Sepolia, so you can see the whole flow working.
• Your own test wallet. Your wallet address is the same on Base Sepolia as on Base mainnet. PowaAgent tops it up with test USDC from Coinbase's testnet faucet when needed. You can request test USDC once every 24 hours.

Using the sandbox with the connector#

Connector tools for Premium listings that support the sandbox take an environment argument. For example (illustrative):

Leave environment out, or set it to "production", for live calls with real data and real USDC.

Not everything has a sandbox:

• A connector tool without an environment argument has no sandbox.
• pay_x402 always pays real USDC on Base mainnet.

Using the sandbox with the Skill#

When you set up the Skill, choose Ask each time for the environment question. Your agent then offers the sandbox whenever a Premium listing supports it. See Skill setup and modes.

To sign a sandbox payment, send the header X-Sandbox-Mode: true with your signing request, and request test USDC with POST https://api.powaagent.ai/wallets/testnet/funds. See Sign a payment.
